How can I keep my dog comfortable in the car on a hot day?

• Heatstroke is a major problem with dogs left in cars.
  
• Every year during the warm months, dogs die needlessly because their owners leave them in cars that become quickly overheated.
  
• Never leave your dog alone in a car for more than five minutes in the heat.
  
• Be sure the windows are open a few inches, and provide fresh drinking water for the dog.
